Happy Monday folks! Are you already plodding through this week with Friday on the brain? Yeah, me too. Over the weekend I completed a nightstand for my every-evolving guestroom that I've got to share with you today. I ended up refinishing this thrifted piece in a really unexpected color that I am now over-the-moon in love with!
Here's the before in all her Goodwill Glory:
And here she is now:
I originally planned on using a fresher, more yellow-ish apple green but as I flipped through my paint deck this super-saturated, emerald jumped out at me. In an instant, I knew it was absolutely perfect. A vision of the completed room sprang into my mind and that's all the confirmation I needed that THIS green was THE green for me.
The picture looks a little lighter than the actual color which is darker and very rich with blue-ish undertones. Do you think it's actually possible to fall deeply and truly in love with a paint color? I love the brightness and vibrancy this punch of emerald brings to this room. Now with this welcome addition, my guestroom is well on its way out of "brownsville"!
It's funny how one seemingly minor change can suddenly give a very clear direction to the rest of the room. In no time at all, I put together a board that reflects the direction I want this room to take.
A little traditional, a little hollywood regency and a little modern style infused with bright and inviting colors. I love it! The only snag in my design plan is the pattern on the headboard. I'm not sure that I love it with the Waverly fabric I want to use for the window panels. It was such an ordeal putting that damned thing together that the thought of redoing it is really bringing me down from my design vision high. Hmm.
Like Scarlet O'Hara I'm not going to think about that today. No, today I'm going to revel in the happiness of an exciting and new design plan.
When painting and sealing this nightstand I made plenty of mistakes and picked up some tips along the way that you might find helpful if you decide to makeover a piece of your very own thrift-store-goodness. I'll post them later this week. Until then, have a great week!
I LOVE it! You did a great job and it looks beautiful in the room! I seriously need your advice in a couple of my rooms.:)
