New Year, New Color Trend

It's a brand new year and that means a fresh outlook, new beginnings and resolutions that may or may not be kept through January.  The start of a new year also means that Pantone releases it's "2012 Color of the Year".

Say hello to "Tangerine Tango":

At first, I was like "ummm what??"  But then I was like "yay!"

Is it reddish orange or orangish red?  Hmm.... Either way, it's super bright and extremely vibrant. Do you think this sunny and cheerful color is meant to reflect a more optimistic attitude in 2012?

I for one am excited to see how the furniture and fabric industries interpret the color this year!  Bring on the fabrics and wallpaper!

I'm also excited to use this color myself.  The color combinations are endless.  Although I can't imagine using something this intense as a wall color, I love it in smaller doses.

So perfect with aqua:

Definitely loving the sophistication here with the lighter tangerine combined with deep purple walls:

These rich velvet sofas are so gorgeous!

It also pairs really well with grey walls (like pretty much every other color in the world!):

The door here is so fun and bright when combined with this vibrant green:

I'm thinking I should definitely have this wallpaper in 2012:

Or maybe I'll just settle for my shot of tangerine in a much more "budget friendly" accent pillow or throw. Ah well, the wallpaper dream was fun while it lasted.

Although I'm not seeing the "Color of the Year" at too many mass retailers just yet, I did manage to find some other affordable ways to bring this trend into your home at West Elm. This color is allllllmost there.

This cute Martini side table looks a little closer to the color.  I'm digging the bright yellow paired with the orange.

How are you feeling about Tangerine Tango?  Will you be adding accents of this color in your home or is it just too strong for you?
