Slipcover Progress

I am happy (relieved is more like it!) to report that the slipcover for my cube ottoman is coming along quite nicely.  There are some really fantastic tutorials out there in blogland that have been really helpful.  Check out the two I am referencing here and here

I made my first ever welt today and it was easy, easy, easy!  If you've been wanting to give this a try but have been intimidated by it like me, get over it!  Your sewing machine will do all the work and all the credit goes to my new best friend - the zipper foot.

Just keep feeding the fabric through, keeping the cord nice and tight inside and before you know it you end up with this:

In case you've been wondering if the dropcloth feels rough to the touch, I can attest that after a couple of wash cycles and lots of fabric softener, the hand is surprisingly pleasant.  But don't take my word for it:

Maybe my next dropcloth project is a dog bed?
