Stylish Vanity Lighting

I hope you're all having a good week so far!  Today is such an absolutely gorgeous day to be in Arizona, where we've been given a nice break from 100 degree temps.  A girl could get used to weather this beautiful!  Someday I hope to live someplace where 70 degrees is the rule and not the exception

Which brings me to our topic today: "Bathroom Vanity Lighting That Isn't Ugly!"

Ok, so that transition needs some work.

If you're like me, the current lighting situation above your bathroom sink looks something like this:

ew.

While these hollywood-glamour-bulb fixtures produce a decent amount of light for very little cash, they're certainly not the most attractive solution.

So I spent a little time researching some alternatives.  Let me inject a little disclaimer here: I am not an electrician and I wouldn't recommend that anyone attempt to replace a fixture without the assistance of a licensed professional.  You will want to research any fixture you select to make sure it meets codes for planned usage and is properly installed.

I found dozens of quirky and eye-catching options that are sure to inject much more style and personality in your powder room.  Here are some of my favorites:

I really like the look of a single, striking fixture centered above the mirror far far better than that horizontal bar of blah bare bulbs.  Especially that little cutie from Pottery Barn.  Adorable!

These sconces would also be great installed as a pair on either side of my mirror. Although that would most certainly require hiring an electrician since there is currently no hardwiring located there.  I might have to think on this one a little while longer.

How about you?  Do you have the same bare-bulb fixture problem?  Are any of the options I've shown inspired you to make a change?
