New Projects & New Adventures

Happy Wednesday everyone!  Are you wondering how someone with a full-time job (one she previously droned on about here) is able to blog in the middle of the afternoon, during the middle of the work week?

If you guessed that I'm blogging on my employer's dime....you're right.  Only I'm the employer!  Ha!

There have been some changes in my professional life to say the least.  Scary, untimely and unforeseen but in the end I know it will all work out for the best.  I am pouring all my energy into making sure it does.

In this last week I've realized that this is a "now or never" moment for me and my writing and design career.  I keep singing this tired song called "Someday".  Maybe you've heard of it?  It goes: "Someday I'd like to write for a magazine" or "Someday I'd like to get paid to write" or "Someday I want to make my own design business really happen. No, I mean really happen".

Someday, someday, someday.  Fear, fear, fear.  Procrastinate, procrastinate, procrastinate.

I'm 35 and while I know that is still young, time goes by so damned fast (I swear I was 25 just a second ago!) and we really never know how much time we have left in this world. Why waste even a second mourning the loss of a job that sucked everything out of you, every single day, so that when you finally dragged your deliriously-tired self home, you had absolutely nothing left for your family and yourself?

Spending my time, talents, nights and weekends making someone else's design firm dreams come true isn't fulfilling.  It's time to make my design firm dreams come true.

So I'm starting with this blog and with more posts and projects.  Hope you like more snark, failed DIY attempts and booze!  Here's a sneak preview of the latest: (I think this one will be a success!  I think)

On the design business side, some exciting things are in the works that I will unveil next month (a new business name and a rad new professional website by a super-rad designer - SO excited about that!).

Thanks to all of you who are still stopping by.  I'm committed to making it worth your while to continue doing so.
